AI short video maker: vertical clips made for the feed
Short video lives or dies in the first two seconds, and a tall frame changes how a shot should be composed. Generating in 9:16 from the start works far better than cropping a wide clip.
Why generate vertical from the start?
When the model knows the frame is tall, it places the subject properly and uses the height. Cropping a wide shot throws away the composition and often the subject too. Select 9:16 in the studio before you generate.
Composing for a phone
- Keep the subject in the middle of the frame. App buttons cover the sides and bottom.
- Prefer close and medium shots. Faces read well on a small screen.
- Stack the action vertically: someone climbing, something falling, a tall building.
Hooks that work
Open on the action, not the setup. Good openers include something surprising in the first frame, a question spoken straight away, or an unfinished action that makes people wait for the result.
Vertical 9:16. A cat stands on a kitchen counter and slowly pushes a full glass towards the edge, staring straight at the camera. Close-up, soft daylight, tense comic music.
Length
Aim for 15 to 45 seconds with one clear idea, and try to make the ending lead back into the beginning so that people watch again.
