AI video editor: change a video by describing the change
A traditional editor rearranges footage that already exists. A generative AI video editor can create new footage inside or after your clip. You describe the change and it renders the result.
Two things you can do here
Extend a clip
Upload a clip and describe what happens next. The video carries on from the final frame. It helps when a shot ends too soon, or when you want one more beat at the end of a scene.
Edit a clip
Describe what should change, such as the weather, the outfit or an object in the scene, and the tool re-renders the clip while trying to keep the rest. Results depend on how big the change is. Small, specific requests work best.
Tips for better edits
- Be specific: “change the red car to a blue one”, not “make it better”.
- Make one change at a time.
- Use short clips. They render faster and give the model less to keep track of.
- Extend and Edit need a model that reads video, so choose one of the Seedance models in the studio.
What is it not?
This does not replace a timeline editor. For cutting, trimming, captions, titles and laying out a sequence, you still want a normal editor. Many people generate here and then finish in a free editor. Our CapCut alternatives guide compares the options.
A sensible workflow
Generate your video here. Extend or fix any shot that needs it. Download the MP4, then add captions and a logo in your editor of choice.
Try it yourself
Try a free preview, no card needed. Videos up to 20 minutes long, with sound.
